Indianapolis Colts Zeroing In On Prospects In 2024 NFL Draft
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

One of the teams that people are keeping an eye on with just a few hours until the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway is the Indianapolis Colts. There have been some rumors swirling around Indianapolis, as they have set their sights on offensive weapons they are looking to add to their roster.

The Colts were pretty quiet in free agency, adding only two players, quarterback Joe Flacco and interior defensive lineman Raekwon Davis, from other teams. Six players departed, as Indianapolis is going to have a good amount of continuity on their roster from 2023 into 2024.

One of the goals for the team heading into the draft is to continue building up the supporting cast around Anthony Richardson. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft looked great during his rookie season when he was able to stay on the field, but health was a concern.

The Colts need to figure out a plan to keep Richardson out of harm’s way so that he can stay on the field producing at a high level. Putting productive weapons around him to get the ball out of his hand quickly is a good place to start.

With their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, No. 15 overall, the team is looking to make that happen. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, via Sleeper NFL, the Colts are looking to make a move for Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.

Given where they are slated to pick in the first round, the Colts probably have to make a trade up the board to be in a position to select Bowers. If they are unable to find a trade partner, Pauline has reported they like Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Bowers is by far the No. 1 tight end prospect in this year’s class and had a decorated career with the Bulldogs. Worthy quickly became a household name with his record-setting performance at the NFL Combine where he ran a 4.21 second 40-yard dash.

Both players would be a nice addition to a Colts offense that has foundational pieces in running back Jonathan Taylor and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. in place. Alec Pierce and Josh Downs are in place at wide receiver, but the depth chart at tight end could certainly use an infusion of talent.
