The Phoenix Suns crashed out of the 2024 NBA Playoffs much earlier than what many expected them to when they added Bradley Beal to their roster via a trade with the Washington Wizards last year.
Ideally, the Suns would still be preparing for a game at this point of the 2023-24 NBA season, but on Monday, they already had their exit interviews after getting swept in the first round by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Despite the Suns’ frustrating early exit from the playoff, Beal said that it doesn’t mean the championship window has closed on this iteration of the team.
Via Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports:
“We didn’t look as this thing as a 1-year thing….we got time. You don’t wanna use that as a cop-out, but the reality that we live in, that’s the game plan. We have a window. Yeah, it’s a short window, but we have a window”
Beal can continue believing in the Suns, but there’s the possibility that the Suns decide to blow the team apart and start over. There are already rumors about the Suns potentially trading him, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant to stockpile assets they can use to rebuild.
Beal struggled in the Timberwolves series in which he only had a single 20-plus points game and shot just 44.1 percent from the field overall.
